Let
Freedom Ring
by Sharmagne Leland-St.John
Alexander Hamilton
in the Trinity Churchyard
cringed as he
watched in horror
from his hallowed grave
as freedom became
a memory of the long ago
as our Bill of Rights
were burned in the blaze
of the World Trade Center
in the flames from the Pentagon
will Liberty rise phoenix-like
from the ashes of those
blackened charred twin towers
from the polygon of death
or has some terrorist
destroyed what we had
only lately
come to enjoy
with the destruction
and the murder of so many
mangled souls
