In Memory of My Mother's Kitchen
by Jamie S. O'Halloran

Open to all
without doors

Bisque cross floats
above emergency

Numbers on cantaloupe
peninsula of wall

In this whitest of seas
food chills behind grandchildren

Party-hat dachshund
Jesus, Jesus, Jesus

Kettle throaty whistle
weight of oven door

And all is sweet tea
caraway and currants

Irish cozy
comforts the pot

Hearth on the table
Open to all
