"Three Poems"
by  Deborah Short-Horne Russell

Lingering

soft sun fingers
lingering
along the shoulder
new horizon's
of warm and misty breath
between the folds -
love letters
perfume a yellow rose
and divine rhyme
exists

Blood Of Sun

I wished to be close to you
as shaving cream
on freshly washed, wet skin
Now I wish I had never
seen your naked lies.
Would it have been easier
to dream and to pretend
then to rest another moment
in your eyes?
I watched the planets
misalign
and the blood
of sun
as it slowly dropped
and died.

Deep Breath

sunday morning's
smell of deep purpose
lingers in a lilac sky
above LA city streets
and alley ways of
hidden meanings
yet when i try to
inhale a deep breath
the acquired scent
is death
and a trace
element
of reverence
