Alyssa
by Alice Thompson

Little flower
Dancing in the summer sun
Your cheerful singing
Echoes down the canyons
To chase away the clouds of rain

Little flower
Your joyful laughter
We will forever hear
In each bubbling rill
As we feel your presence near

Little flower
Bending in the wind
Clinging to the rocks and stone
You beckon us to climb
Reaching for rainbows before they’re gone

Little flower
You fight so bravely
Battered by the autumn storms
But your spirit will not break
Until the harsh winter takes you home

Little flower
So delicate and so fine
Smiling through all the pain
We keep our hope alive
Praying for miracles as the daylight wanes
