I Sing the Sea
Mary Jo Balistreri

My skin flowers against

         your waves of silk

                  blooms inside your vast expanse

I inhale your salty taste

         breathe your ebb and flow

succumb to the thrust of your force

the power that brands me yours

Within your world

in the generosity of your body

                  I find my place

A heron    a gull

         I wade your shores

Diving into your depth

         an osprey  a hawk

Sun catcher of iridescence

         I sing your song

Beneath my song   you sing

         remote   near

         calm   powerful

         immortal

and I fear     indifferent
