Autumn Horses
by Alexandria Economou

Like outstretched arms
High branches reach across the field
Their leaves scorched by summer's brand
Now tinged with the slanting sun's vermillion
Sway in whispered breaths of autumn
Above the languid noonday horses
Collaged by dappled light and shadows
Their mane's lift upward
Like hems of a dervish whirl
Mixed with fallen colors
Chestnut hazel russet
Titian's palette
Paints the autumn horses.
