Being October
by Jeannie E. Roberts

She whispers
speaks softly
in hushes
hints
of honey
breaths
of blush
and russet
as sighs
of wine
imbue
her limbs
infuse
her bounty
in florid
bouquet.
Stippled
in light
she bathes
beside
amber
sways
before
coral
sweeps
abreast
salmon
leaving
traces
of color
gracing
her reign
surrendering
as an autumn
abandons its crown
for she is October
the quintessential ten.
