Mary See's Fudge Receipe
submitted by David Gindraux
rewritten and tested in the kitchen of Sharmagne Leland-St. John

4 1/2 cups sugar
3 12-ounce packages of chocolate chips
1/2 pound butter
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1 13-ounce can of evaporated milk
7 ounces of marshmallow cream
2 cup of chopped walnuts

In a large bowl mix together the marshmallow cream and the butter.
Add the chocolate chips. Mix the sugar with the evaporated milk.
Boil for 7 to 8 minutes, stirring often. Bring to a rolling boil.
Pour the boiling milk over the chocolate marshmalow mixture. After
chocolate has melted, add the nuts and vanilla. Blend well, pour
into buttered pans and chill in refrigerator. Cut into squares
before it becomes firm.
Yeilds about 5 lbs of fudge.

HISTORICAL NOTE: Given to Amy DeVore by Emma Julian c. 1930, this is
"supposedly" the original recipe for See's Fudge, produced by the See's
Candy Company, Los Angeles. Emma allegedly worked for See's and later
owned her own candy store.
