Jane
by Sharmagne Leland-St. John

Jane
in her cardinal red coat
stepped right out of a fairytale
into her garden

Jane in her red coat
beneath the arbor
fiddling with
a stray branch
a wayward tendril

Jane framed
by climbing roses
red as her wool coat
the dog days of summer
long gone

Jane with the
winter sun
behind her
low on the mountain
about to slip
beyond sight
Jane
