The Lonely Side
by Alice Elizabeth Thompson

Write my name
In the rain
And watch the letters
Like tears
Trickle and disappear
Feel the coolness
On your fingertip
As you trace all
Your warm thoughts
Into a single word
On a wet window
Memory is just a name

Paint my name
On the wind
And let the colours
Like autumn
Blow through your mind
You'll see my face
In a distant crowd
And know my smile
In another's eyes
So do not frown
When the picture fades
Memory is just a name
