Here Today . . . Gone Tomorrow
By Bara Byrnes

I remember what he said
Lying, sighing in that bed:
"Taste your joy, feel your sorrow;
For it's here today, gone tomorrow."

Guess he had all he wanted of the ladies
In the neighborhood; and so he would . . .
And times were good.
Then there were no more times or changes.
God re-arranges!

And I remember what he said
Lying, crying in that bed:
"Taste your joy, feel your sorrow;
For it's here today, gone tomorrow."

We'll go and have martinis,
Live life in the past,
Talk about what happened,
Why it didn't last.

All I remember what Joe said
Lying, dying in that bed:
"Taste your joy, feel your sorrow;
For you're here today and you're gone tomorrow."
