Tuscany 2012
by Sharmagne Leland-St. John

I slip in between
the water and its
reflections
the way I slipped
into bed beside you

Now I walk
in unfamiliar woods
the snap of twigs
the crunch of leaves
recalls the memory
of fires roaring
on your hearth

My heart beats
like a drum
inside my breast

Half my life belongs
to the dark and wild night

As I belonged to you
