The Wine's Talking
by Jeannie E. Roberts
‐inspired by Pierre-Auguste Renoir's painting, "Luncheon of the Boating Party" (1881)
Wearing our finest
labels,
engaging notes
enliven taste buds‐
plum's sweetness
surrounds,
when humus rises,
fades with fennel,
pine follows
where thyme drifts
between flavors
of mocha and smoke.
It's a tasteful occasion
as they sip, savor us
and the moment.
Our profiles glow,
our bottles flow readily
with refills.
It's just another afternoon
uncorked
at the Maison Fournaise.
