On Your Anniversary
by Phyllis Snook

Flowers lying on the icy ground

Cover like a blanket of color

All greens, yellows and blues

Loveliness all aglow

As rainbows circle the sky above

Young lovers on a Sunday stroll

Touching the brightness with their every step

Feeling the flowers beneath their toes

The luster of the sun shining in their eyes

Holiness wringing halos around their heads

Their wedding day a year ago

Held the same mystic loveliness

As they took the alter to hold
