The U.S. Weather Service Predicts Snow Beginning After Midnight and Continuing Thru Tomorrow Afternoon with Accumulations of up to 4"       (Dallas, 2003)
by Ann Howells

No white Christmas again this year.
No New Year's ice storm‐a relief.
This snow, deepest in 25 years,
is a Valentine's treat. Low wind
and temperature just above freezing
create wet snow
that mounds delicate branches
in rounded silhouette,
forms a white, lace valentine
through which we stroll in red jackets,
caps and gloves:
two clumsy hearts with ragged edges,
cut by childish fingers,
pasted onto paper doilies.
They read I Love You and Be Mine.
