Love Letter
by Carol Folsom

To all the guys who ditched me when
I knew you were the One

with special mention to
the blue-eyed salesman with more ladies than commissions
the Winston toking lawyer whose true passion was gin
the pilot who could land on a ship in a roiling moonless sea
but couldn't speak the words I longed to hear

what you couldn't say was
you were choking
in the sticky web
of my aching arms

Thank you all for not marrying me

And to that gentle accounting student
who you loved me more
than I could bear

You're welcome
