Among The Lily
By Deborah Russell

Lipsticked girl among the lilies
Smiles and waves to wayward wind
She strolls among the crossroads
Between heavens - where sins begin

A cloak of truth betrays her heart
In tattered frays and undone seams
Where faes and faeries did soon part
And demons and giants conquered dreams

Between by-roads and the main road
She's standing alone among the flowers
Dreaming of a fine castle prince abode
And lovely fair maidens in ivory towers

Among the daydream branches sings
A great willow wisp of melodies
Where lily bells do chime and ring
And frail shadows hide among the trees

She does sigh for but a moment quick
As a butterfly dances near her sky
One lily from the path she picked
Still sails the wounded heart on high
