Whole day looms ahead
Unlimited possibilities
               chores to be done
               trees to climb
               bikes to ride
               places to explore
               mysteries to solve
               rascal cat to tease
               pirate ship to build
               books to read
               green apples to eat
Little League Games to watch and play
               Some balls whacked
               Mostly missed
Saturday matinees at the old Armada Theatre
Green River phosphates at the Busy Corner Drug
Winding down at dusk
Reluctant to leave the magic of night
               Hide and seek
               Capture the Flag
Cricket’s song
Distant train mournful whistle
Screen door slams
               Quiet
               Sleep
