With a little girl in a Hollywood bungalow
by t. wagner

In 1972 it would have been
a dream come true

A small house with a good view,
halfway between the beach and the strip

But that was a long time ago,
several films, three wives and six attorneys ago

Time doesn't fly,
it shuffles off like a drunk when the bars close.

Now I'm stuck in this crappy little house
making payments I can't afford until the settlement clears or
we get the next adventure film out of turnaround.

The girl sleeping in the next room is young enough to be my daughter,
but I don't have one, and she doesn't mention it.
I'm betting she stays as long as the blow holds out.

I've been wrong before.
