Petals
   for Etheree Taylor Armstrong
by Michael Escoubas

This
deeply
religious
woman who lost
three brothers in war
seemed content that so few
would remember what she left.
She lived and wrote in Arkansas.
We poets treasure the gift she gave:
a form that unfolds like petals in bloom.
